Runners depart at 0500, 2 MAY 2015 for the beautiful beaches of Currituck and Dare
counties.  Runners head north to the end of HWY 12, continue north on the beach for
0.5 miles, then continue south 29 miles to the finish line.  4 aid stations and a water
station (water only) are available to runners with fruit, Gu, water, gatorade / Gu2O,
and several other food - first aid items.  This is an open course, however the majority
of the race occurs on wide open beach.  Depending on weather conditions runners
should prepare for very little shade, possible strong head/tail winds, soft sand and areas
of sparse civilization.  A small finish is located at mile 31 with food, drinks, and
awards.  Runner's crew and families can support (and are encouraged to support!) their
runner anywhere along the course; however no vehicles are allowed on the beach but
race staff.  Families and crews can park in the vicinity of the Wright Brother's
Monument and walk to the OBX 50k finish line.  It is the runner's responsibility to
coordinate their movement from the finish line; race staff is not responsible for
transportation to and from Currituck Lighthouse.

Aid Stations: Aid stations will be spread out over the length of the course at 4
different locations.  A full aid station layout complete with distances and nutrition items
will be published prior to the event.

Bathrooms: There are 3 opportunities for participants to use bathrooms.  The start
line, mile 11.4 (crew access point) and the finish.

Admission / Registration: No qualifying race is required to participate in this
event.  Our goal is to keep the OBX Ultramarathon small and provide a personable
race experience for our runners.  Official registration opens 15 JULY on

Medical: Beach rescue is aware of this event and provided support personnel along
the beach route to support the runners. Outer Banks Hospital (Nags Head, NC) is the
closest hospital. They're notified of this event and local emergency personnel will
provide ambulance support at cost to the runner.  Please understand the importance of
